MURREE – In a significant operation, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL), in collaboration with local authorities, has successfully dismantled an illegal gas network at a hotel in Murree. This action is part of SNGPL’s broader initiative to combat gas theft and reduce Unaccounted for Gas (UFG) across the country.
The raid took place on July 8, 2026, executed by the Islamabad Region team with the support of the Deputy Commissioner of Murree and Kaldana Police. The operation was prompted by confidential intelligence regarding unauthorized gas connections.

During the raid, SNGPL officials disconnected the hotel’s gas meter and removed LPG cylinders. Despite these actions, gas-powered appliances continued to operate, indicating a deeper issue. A thorough inspection revealed an illegal PPR pipeline, approximately 40 meters long, which had been illicitly connected to SNGPL’s main gas distribution line located on Mall Road.

Upon discovering the illegal setup, SNGPL teams promptly removed the unauthorized pipeline, along with valves and fittings. They also seized the gas meter and permanently disconnected the hotel’s service line from the main distribution network.
