The Gurdwara became the center of controversy when a local businessman allegedly carried out an illegal demolition following the structural collapse. Ashrafi addressed the community during a visit to the site, emphasizing the importance of restoring this heritage site for the Sikh community.

During his visit, Ashrafi expressed solidarity with the Sikh community and assured them that both provincial and federal governments would protect the site.
