The United Kingdom, Italy, and Japan have officially signed a £4.6 billion ($6.1 billion) contract aimed at advancing the development of a next-generation stealth fighter jet. This agreement represents a significant step forward for the Global Combat Air Programme (GCAP), which is designed to produce a sixth-generation combat aircraft expected to enter service by 2035.

The British government has described this deal as a “key milestone” for the GCAP. The new fighter jet is intended to complement existing aircraft such as the Typhoon and F-35, as well as autonomous systems, forming part of a modernized Royal Air Force.
